BENRIACH   WHISKY

Benriach Distillery 22 year old Dark Rum Cask Speyside 46% single malt: Light amber colour;  a bouquet of dark rum, sugar cane, vanilla, gasoline vapours, and some black coffee.  On the palate the body is rather light and soft initially, but soon the spices kick in: Caramel, cinnamon and white pepper, then liqorice, vanilla some honey and dark rum.  Later on notes of brown sugar, dark syrup, coffee from a sub-optimally cleaned espresso machine, with a light body.  The finish lasted 40 seconds.  June 2021.  3.5/5
