GUCCI pour homme (original)

After a beautiful bergamot and lavender opening it adds wood in the drydown that is very beautiful. in the later base notes oakmoss and a very subtle leather note is added. The moat impressive parents the wonderful quality of the ingredients, and the avoidance of any sharpness or shrillness in the fougére notes - quite different from Nobile. This ia throughout a restrained, classic and never obtrusive fragrance. After the first couple of hours it retreats with its wood-and-moss vibes closer to my skin, and it lasts about five hours in total. A classic, gentle masterpiece.

Launched 1976; sadly discontinued.  Tom Ford joined Gucci and launched his new GPH that is quite different.
